End Of Year Giving
RICE N BEANS IN 2022
We strive to be an organization that follows Jesus’ teaching from Matthew 6:3-4, “But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” This is why you don’t see us throwing around a lot of numbers and stats on social media or calling news crews to come and do stories on us. It is very important, however, for those who do support us by serving in person, financially, or by donations and prayer to see that their investment is being used wisely. We seek to use our resources for helping people in need with not only something tangible that will impact their immediate needs but also addressing the emotional and spiritual brokenness as well. At the end of the day, our most important act is to make sure that each person we serve knows that we serve them because of the deep love and acceptance that Jesus Christ has for them and that receiving His love is the only thing that can bring them peace.
As we come to the close of 2022 and look ahead to growth and the challenges that 2023 will bring, we know many people are considering end of year giving. We have several ways that you can bless Rebuilding Paradise / Rice N Beans. Financial giving can be done by mailing a check or online giving at our Donate Financially page . We are now able to accept stock donations through our Schwab account for those of you looking to avoid capital gains taxes. Real estate donations are also welcome. Please contact Daryl for detail on either stock or real estate donations. Everything received by December 31 will be deposited and eligible for a 2022 tax deduction.
Here are a few highlights of how your support has impacted our communities in recent months:
• On December 2, 2021 we started our feeding program in Wilmington. Our team serves breakfast every Thursday morning and we are seeing steady growth in building our volunteer base locally through our dedicated leaders.
• On January 4, 2022, we kicked off RNB in Gastonia and have not missed a Tuesday night since our launch. Gastonia quickly expanded into 2 locations and serving monthly at Catherine’s house, a battered women and children’s program. Our Gastonia team runs like a finely oiled machine with a dedicated group of leaders.
• In Charlotte we continue to serve twice weekly and are seeing more involvement from local groups that are committing to ongoing service. We are currently considering new ideas on how we can more effectively serve the needs in this community.
• Monroe continues to go through changes and we are praying for God to give us clear direction as we look for new avenues to serve our Union County community.
• We have partnered with Charlotte Mecklenburg Police to help support their efforts in marginalized communities with outreach into the Latino community and taking a leadership role in CMPD Kops and Kids events.
• RNB purchased a 21foot full service mobile kitchen trailer. We are currently using this for special events. As we build support teams our desire is to dispatch this trailer to food relief in local areas as well communities in need of disaster relief.
• We purchased and up-fitted a trailer to support our Wilmington RNB team.
• In 2022 Rice N Beans has served over 22,000 people! This translates to:
- Over 1500 lbs. of rice
- Over 2600 lbs. of beans
- Over 13,000 hot dogs
- Over 28,000 drinks
- Over 2200 bags of groceries
- Over 15,000 volunteer hours
- Approx 350 Christmas backpacks going out this week
-Tens of Thousands of Socks, Hats, Gloves, Underwear, Blankets, Coats, Hoodies, and assorted clothing.
Thousands of Personal Hygiene Kits and other living essentials.
We have provided beds and furnishings for many of our friends that are now off the street and in affordable housing. This is a life changing event, and we hope to be part of many more.
All who come to our tables to be fed and clothed are given opportunities for spiritual counsel and to be prayed for, and are shown the love of Jesus as we minister to their needs. And the needs are great as more men and women are dealing with homelessness.
We understand that there are many worthy ministries and non-profit organizations that you can partner with, and we are honored that you have chosen to support Rice N Beans. Thank you once again for your past and future support whether it be financial, clothing donation, your time or prayer. God sees and multiplies what is given and uses it for His kingdom work.
Thank you for considering an End of Year Donation as we prepare for 2023.
God Bless you during this holiday season and into the New Year!
